The JHS 424 Gain Stage brings the iconic lo-fi, elastic tones of the TASCAM Portastudio 424 straight to your pedalboard. From rubbery cleans to high-headroom grit and smashed-out fuzz, this pedal captures the sound that inspired artists from Springsteen to Spoon. Faithfully recreating the original 424 MKI circuit with vintage op-amps, it offers intuitive controls for volume, dual-stage gain, and bass/treble EQ, plus a balanced XLR output for direct-to-mixer recording. Use it as a preamp, overdrive, distortion, or full-on fuzz—stack it with your favorite amp or pedals for ultimate tonal versatility. Experience the legendary Portastudio sound without hauling around a massive recorder—perfect for home, studio, or stage. CONTROLS: VOLUME (Corresponds to Portastudio® Master) - Controls the output volume. Left is less, right is more. On the Portastudio 424, this is the MASTER fader. GAIN 1 (TRIM) - Sets how much preamplification will be added to the input signal. On the Portastudio 424, this is the TRIM control. GAIN 2 (CHANNEL) - Sets the volume level of the second gain stage. On the Portastudio 424, this is the CHANNEL fader. BASS - Cuts or boosts bass frequencies. Left is less, right is more. TREBLE - Cuts or boosts the treble frequencies. Left is less, right is more. INPUT - Top ¼” right jack. OUTPUT - Top ¼” left jack. XLR OUTPUT - XLR jack on the left side of the pedal. This is a balanced output which can be used as a direct-out straight into a mixer or interface. The 1/4” output and XLR output can be used simultaneously. GROUND LIFT - Dip switch on the left side of the pedal. If you experience a hum/buzz while using the XLR output, use this switch to lift the ground. POWER - Requires 9VDC center negative power and consumes 50mA. The 424 Gain Stage is silent, soft touch switching with a buffered bypass. Quite clicks and easy manueverability. Works great.

I was very pleased when I opened the box and seen that the actual mouse looks exactly like the pictures. It is lightweight and glides easily along my mouse pad. The colors are gorgeous and makes it look very chic! And it works great. It was easy to set up, just plugged in the USB receiver and it was up and running right away. The clicks make a muffled sound that is kind of soothing.

I hold this more than my husband's hand!
Color: Black and Gold
So much about this mouse is RIGHT!! The smooth feel in my hand, the way it glides across the mouse pad, and the silent scrolling and clicking feature are all great features I look for in a mouse. As an online college student, homeschooling mother, writer, digital designer, and business owner, a computer mouse is one of my most used "tools".
The battery life seems to be alright, although I did not realize it was ran on batteries and am not looking forward to the ongoing replenishment of that. I would prefer a mouse that charges if it were to be wireless or just have that cord attached. It responds with my computer and laptop well with little to no lag.
Visually, it is gorgeous, classy and professional while also being cute! The black with the rose gold colors really make a statement.
Aside from the longevity and sustainability of batteries, I love everything about this mouse. Show me this mouse with a few upgrades and the ability to charge an internal battery and I will be all over that with 5 stars!

Quiet, Sleek, and Surprisingly Premium for the Price

I’ve gone through a lot of wireless mice over the years, but this one genuinely surprised me. The design looks much more premium in person — the black and gold finish gives it a sleek modern setup vibe without looking cheap or flashy.
The mouse is super lightweight, smooth, and almost silent when clicking, which honestly makes a bigger difference than I expected. Great for late-night work, studying, or coffee shop use without annoying everyone around you.
Setup took seconds — plugged in the nano receiver and it worked instantly with my laptop. No lag, no connection issues, and the tracking has been very responsive on different surfaces. Battery life has also been solid so far.
For the price, this feels like one of those underrated tech finds that ends up becoming part of your everyday setup. Clean aesthetic, quiet performance, portable, and reliable. Definitely exceeded expectations.

Nice, quiet and durable mouse

After trying several mice, I purchased one of these. It is small and very quiet. Since I spend many hours a day at a computer that can be rough on mice. I have since purchased more of these. It will take the average user quite a while to wear one out. And they are inexpensive.
